Enter the restaurant at The Plough Alnwick to find Chesterfield style sofas, wooden floors and antler chandeliers, not to mention an imaginative menu filled with dishes made from Northumberland’s finest produce. If the sound of kipper scotch egg or leg of lamb gigot doesn’t start your taste buds tingling, you might be tempted by the Champagne afternoon tea.

Head down the winding staircase to the bar for an after dinner drink. This is a cool space with a vibrant atmosphere where you can sample a variety or spirits, wines, gins and traditional beers. Don’t worry if you over indulge, you won’t have far to go to sleep it off!

Seven country chic bedrooms are strewn across the first and second floors and provide a cosy home from home with plaid furnishings, woollen throws and calming shades. The local area

We’re not exaggerating when we say that Northumberland is arguably one of the most beautiful parts of the country. So it will come as no surprise that we absolutely adore the medieval town of Alnwick, with its winding cobbled streets, independent craft shops, historic castle and mesmerising gardens. Located on one of the main streets, Bondgate Without, The Plough really is at the heart of everything. Walk for ten minutes from this Alnwick accommodation and you’ll reach Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden, well that’s if you can resist sneaking into one of the pubs en route. Alternatively, drive along the coastal road to The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, a beautiful tidal island on the North East Coast. Continue a little further and you’ll reach Alnmouth, a pretty village with colourful houses that line the seafront.
