The Merry Harriers, Hambledon, Hampshire
Hambledon Road, Hambledon, Surrey GU8 4DR, 01428 682883, Visit Website
Dating back to the 16th century, this traditional village inn has all the quirks you’d hope to find. Crooked floors and timber clad walls set the scene for lazy afternoons with a pint of real ale and a plate piled high with homecooked food.
Head Chef, Sam Page, loves to forage for nettles, wild garlic and blackberries to add rustic flavours to his dishes. All other ingredients are sourced from within a 15 mile radius and are used to rustle up seasonal specials and sharing platters that you could be tempted to eat all by yourself.
The garden has a play area and lets you enjoy a tipple in the sunshine as the kids run around. And we’re sure they’ll love the resident llamas who live in the paddock. You can even book a llama trek through the Surrey Hills for something a bit different.
Each of the eleven bedrooms at The Merry Harriers has rustic charm with features such as wooden beams or original fireplace. Comfy beds are strewn with woollen throws and pretty windows overlook the countryside.
Recently welcoming a brand new glamping experience, The Merry Harriers have introduced five luxurious, country-chic Shepherd’s Huts! Boasting cosy amenities such as the underfloor heating, log-burning stove, private firepit and tranquil views across the nearby pond and surrounding Surrey Hills – An Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty – perfected with a complimentary bottle of rosé.
