The Crown Inn at Old Amersham, Bucks

16 High Street, Amersham, Buckinghamshire HP7 0DH, 01494 721 541, Visit Website

Above the cosy nooks and crannies of this Grade II Listed building, where crooked floors and log fires greet you, await minimalistic bedrooms that see modern design sitting comfortably among ancient features. At The Crown Inn at Old Amersham you may be surprised to see brightly coloured Roberts Radios and in-room roll top baths mingling with original leaded windows and beamed ceilings, but that’s just how The Crown rolls.

Often thought of as a restaurant with rooms, The Crown Inn plays host to the acclaimed, 2 AA Rosette restaurant, Hawkyns, which is headed by Atul Kochhar, the twice Michelin Star chef. The various menus showcase interesting flavour combinations that work wonderfully. Expect to find crisp fried soft shell crab teamed up with pear chutney, or perhaps jasmine tea smoked duck ham.
